TIP’s Leadership team brings a practitioner’s perspective to our work. Each principal has direct experience managing economic development efforts at the state or major metropolitan area level. They have served as trusted advisors to governors, state and local officials, and private sector executives. A senior member of the firm is involved in every client engagement.

Jeff Marcell

Jeff has called the Pacific Northwest home for over 15 years. He started his economic development career at the Greater Houston Partnership, and, before joining TIP, was CEO of the Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County. Jeff is an avid mountaineer and, during climbing season, you might find him on the slopes of Mt. Rainier.

Jon Roberts

Born in Germany, Jon studied philosophy at the University of Hawaii and the University of Oregon. Prior to joining TIP, he held senior positions in economic development in Oregon, Washington, and Texas, and was a lead investor for the Oregon Technology Corporation. An avid cyclist, he founded the Fat Tire Farm bicycle company.

Tom Stellman

A childhood in South America inspired Tom to attend University of Texas at Austin’s Institute for Latin American Studies. Before founding TIP Strategies in 1995, he directed the Office of International Business for the Texas Department of Commerce. Tom spends his downtime on his mountain bike or behind the grill.
